When Henry Phillip Thomas was born on December 12, 1856, in Georgia, his father, Alexander, was 22 and his mother, Mary, was 22. He married Ellen Mitchell on January 14, 1886, in Hempstead, Arkansas. He then married Mary Ellen Thomas and they had 11 children together. He died on October 4, 1945, in Faulkner, Arkansas, at the age of 88, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
