Jaynell J. Holmesley, 83, of Springdale died May 5, 2006. She was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Habberton, the daughter of Benjamin Joye and Clara Whetzel Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Levi Holmesley to whom she married Sept. 21, 1940; one son, Joey Holmesley; two brothers, J.R. Johnston and Don Johnston; and one sister, Vivian Cloer.
She was a faithful member of Spring Valley Baptist Church.
She enjoyed quilting and gardening.
She was a retired schoolteacher who taught from 1951 to 1986 in Mayfield, Burkshed, Hickory Flat, Hindsville and 24 years in Springdale. She also worked the polls at election time.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Caroline Holmesley of Springdale; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Ron Middleton of Springdale; one daughter-in-law, Priscilla Walker-Holmesley of Springdale: one sister, Betty Jo Howerton of Springdale; three grandsons and wives, Colby and Brandy Middleton of El Dorado, Cyrus and Mikki Middleton of Olathe, Kan.; Seth and Dawn Holmesley of Fayetteville; two great-grandsons, Noah and Caleb Middleton of El Dorado; several nieces and nephews, and a loving church family at Spring Valley Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, May 7 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springdale with the family present.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 8, at Spring Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Byler, the Rev. Odell Davis, the Rev. Randall Galloway, the Rev. Steve Muller and the Rev. Jack Taylor officiating, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Springdale.
Burial will be held in Joyce Cemetety.
Pallbearers will be Craig Davis, Gaylon Davis, Zane Vanderpool, Finis M. Watson, Floy Bob Cartmell and Jim Bowerman.
Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice or Gideon's International, or to Spring Valley Baptist Church, 20983 E. U.S. 412, Springdale.
