When David Alexander Howell was born on March 14, 1867, in Arkansas, his father, John, was 39 and his mother, Emily, was 40. He married Roxanna E. Shaw on November 5, 1891, in Faulkner, Arkansas. They had seven children in 18 years. He died on November 16, 1957, in Greenbrier, Arkansas, at the age of 90, and was buried there.
