Jodie Clyde Tate, 62, of Shreveport, La., a formers resident of Smackover, died Friday at a Shreveport hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Fir4st Assembly of God Church, Smackover, with Rev. D. N. Harris officiating. Interment will be at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Born Dec. 19, 1911 at Nashville, Ark., Mr. Tate was the son of Alfred C. Tate and Missouri Richardson Tate. He was a retired welder and had been employed with Griffing Tank Car Repairs. He was a member of the Assembly of God faith. Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Eloise Cooper Tate of Shreveport; three brothers, Dewey Tate of Smackover, Lenox Tate of Shreveport and Earl Tate of Bossier City; a sister, Mrs. Louthenie Finley of Alta Loma, Tex. Pallbearers will be Leslie Powell, James Berry, Cecil Shaddock, Albert Chenault, Robert Tucker and Carroll Ricketts. Honorary pallbearers will be G. F. Cutrer, J. G. Griffing and employes. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service time. The family will be at the Donald Hopkins residence, 901 Cross St., Smackover. (El Dorado News Times - November 10, 1974)
