September 26, 1902 - January 17, 1974
Mrs. Hilda Geneva McDade, 71, of 302 Summit Apartments, died Thursday morning in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Pine Bluff, Sept. 26, 1902, and was the daughter of George G. and Martha Gartman Shelby. Before her retirement she was a resident counselor at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Following her retirement she was manager of the Summit Apartments. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Charles L. McDade, El Dorado, and John E. McDade, Hidgen, Ark.; three brothers, Earl Shelby, El Dorado; Robert Shelby, Camden, and James Shelby, Marshall Islands; two sisters, Mrs. Delmar Wingfield and Mrs. Bill Adams, both of El Dorado; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Hilton officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers are James Warnock, Claude Calahan, Mat Rogers, John V. Taylor, Curtis Hammack and Feaster Taylor. (El Dorado Times - January 18, 1974)
