Mrs. Mamie E. Baber, 79, of 1327 Mount Holly St., died in a local hospital Thursday at 9:25 a.m. after a long illness. Mrs. Baber was born in Middlebrook (Randolph County) Aug. 4, 1885, the daughter of Charles Gregory and Mary Cinderella Capps Johnston. A former resident of Arlington, Tex., she had lived in El Dorado for the last 10 years. She was a member of First Methodist Church and of Gleaners Sunday School Class of that church. She leaves a brother, Rector R. Johnston of Pocahontas; three sisters, Mrs. Harvey Morey of El Dorado, Mrs. R. L. Winn of Little Rock and Mrs. Mabel Abbott of Pocahontas; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Robert Yarbrough of El Dorado. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. C. Ray Hozendorf in the chapel of Rumph Mortuary Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. (The El Dorado Times - February 18, 1965)
