Obituary
Allene Brown Reynolds, 67, of Batesville died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at a Batesville hospital.
Allene was born to Henry and Marie Pickering Brown on January 30, 1935. In 1952, she graduated as valedictorian of her class at Cushman High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington D.C., and went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. While in Washington, she met her husband, Bob Reynolds of Rogers, who was stationed in Washington at the time. The two married on May 15, 1954.
The couple returned to Batesville in 1969. Upon her return to Batesville, she raised her three children and three of her grandchildren before returning to work for the Batesville United Methodist district office. She was a member of Sharp United Methodist Church and the Asbury United Methodist Women. As an active member of the UMW, she served as a Batesville district officer and held many local offices. She enjoyed her life and loved her work.
We are all saddened by the loss of a dear friend, a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a wife, but know that she has gone on to a better life - a life with no pain - and has been reunited with family and friends who have gone on before her-her parents; an infant daughter, Denise; and an infant brother, James.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Reynolds of Batesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ricky Capps of Batesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Brenda Reynolds of Cave City; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Kevin Gilbee of Calico Rock; a granddaughter, Tina Paul and her husband Rusty; a grandson Michael Chandler; a grandson, Chris Reynolds and his wife, Brenda; a granddaughter, Amy Chandler; three grandsons, Keith Reynolds, Cody Reynolds and Timothy Gilbee; a great-grandson, Regan Paul; a sister and brother-in-law, Polly and LeeRoy Thompson of Maryland; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bob Parker of Batesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Carlotta Brown of Batesville; and a number of dear family and friends.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church in Batesville with the Rev. Carroll Jackson, the Rev. Jim Beal and the Rev. Jim Brooks officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Chandler, Chris Reynolds and Keith Reynolds, Glen Busby, Thomas Wood and Sam Hurley.
honorary Pallbearers will be James Henry Melton, James Branscum, Ted Masters, Chester Melton, the Rev. Dennis Spence and the Bishop Max Whitfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Sunday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
