Bernadine Stevenson, 86, of Quitman, went to be with the Lord Monday July 18, 2016. She was born November 2, 1929 in Guy to the late John William and Vivian Bearden Shaw. Bernadine was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stevenson, two sons, Wayne and Jerry Stevenson, four brothers, Royce, Faye, Higgins and Bobby Shaw, two sisters, Monteen Carter and Irene Hughes, and one grandson, Brian Stevenson.
Bernadine was a long time member of the Guy Church of Christ and retired from FMC. She enjoyed canning, gardening, and especially cooking for her family and friends. Bernadine was well known for her banana nut bread and candy loaf. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Bernadine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bernadine is survived by two daughters, Becky Benson and husband Mike of Springfield, MO and Vickie Thompson and husband Roger of Quitman, grandchildren, Saundra and husband Sherman, Craig, Danny and his wife Kela, Tara (Brody), Keith and Wade (Christy) Benson, Clay, Ron, and Will Thompson, great-grandchildren, Matthew and William Johnson, Blake, Jade and Tanner Stevenson, Zeke Verser, Justin, Madison, Emma and Farren Benson, and Brady Thompson, five great-great-grandchildren, Ariana, Alliyah, and Blake Johnson, Penny Johnson, and Naythan Sexton, sisters, Odie Edwards and husband Jim, June Brown, Gayle Tuten and husband Junior and her loving nieces and nephews and numerous friends and family.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 20th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Bro. Gary Burdin officiating. Burial will follow at Old Texas cemetery in Guy. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny and Craig Stevenson, Wade Benson, Matthew and William Johnson, and Donny Burklow. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Benson, Clay Thompson, and Glen Stevenson.
