Howard J. Barager Jr., 80, of Texarkana, Ark., died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Texarkana.

Mr. Barager was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Hazleton, Pa. He was retired from General Telephone Co., a musician, a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the Elks Club and Knights of Columbus and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Barager of Texarkana; one son, Howard J. Barager III of Lake Orion, Mich.; one daughter, Catherine Garner of Pearland, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at East Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Mass will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Phillip Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under direction of East Funeral Home.
