Mrs. Sarah Mae Dow Fortson, 81, of Conway died Wednesday (March 11, 1998) at The Heritage Center.
Born June 20, 1916, in Houston, Texas, daughter of Marion Edward and Katie Belle Powers Dow, she was a retired teacher in the Mount Vernon, Mayflower and Conway school districts. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Conway, Order of Eastern Star, the Arkansas and Faulkner County Retired Teachers associations and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors are two sons, Gwyn Dow Fortson of Conway and James Edward Fortson of Morrilton; three brothers, Marion Powers Dow and Wainwrite Dow, both of Conway, and Bobby Fred Dow of Collinsville, Ill.; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with the Dr. R. Dale Wicker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Edward Lee Dow, Chris Dow, Sam Dow, Ricky Dow, Andrew Shock and Andy Shock.
