Darla Jean Monroe, 66, of Conway went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. She was born December 26, 1944, in Little Rock, to the late Earl Rupert and Zelma Mae (Alexander) Nichols. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She retired from the Conway Human Development Center after 21 years of dedicated service on the Total Care Team. Darla was a member of Bible Baptist Church and a nature and animal lover. She collected cardinals and loved to watch hummingbirds outside the front glass door. She enjoyed watching the squirrels in her backyard. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one brother, Lynn Edward Nichols.

Darla is survived by her husband of 48 years, Buford N. Monroe; two sons, Buford Wayne "Wayne" Monroe (Laura) and Brian Keith Monroe (Amy Halter), all of Conway; a daughter, Kimberly "Kim" (Monroe) Grainger (Aaron) of Mabelvale, a sister, Remona Sue (Nichols) McClain and a brother, Hartsell Leon "Leon" Nichols, both of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Kelsey Gay Monroe and Emily Grace Monroe; a beloved dog, Peanut; one granddog, Lucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, in Conway. Darla's funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2011, at Bible Baptist Church, with Dr. Vernon McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Buford N. Monroe, 75, of Conway went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2014. He was born August 6, 1938, in Palestine, AR to the late Harland Newton Monroe and Grace (Howton) Monroe. Buford was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He worked at Piggly Wiggly in Conway until it closed. For many years he and his family had a few Arkansas Democrat then the Arkansas Gazette paper route. Then worked at Sallie Cone Elementary School until his retirement, and he was proud of the time he spent in the Air National Guard. He enjoyed golf and fishing but his favorite was bowling. Buford was also was a big UCA Bears fan. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Darla Monroe; two sisters, Shelby Webb and LaVada Folsom. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Buford is survived by; two sons, Buford Wayne Monroe (Laura Mellard Monroe) and Brian Keith Monroe (Amy Halter), all of Conway; a daughter, Kimberly Ann (Monroe) Grainger (Aaron) of Mabelvale, two sisters, Juanita Carver of New Mexico and Betty Sue McPherson of Jacksonville; three brothers, Hoyt Monroe, Duke Monroe, and Raymond Monroe all of Sherwood; two grandchildren, Kelsey Gay Monroe and Emily Grace Monroe; and a beloved dog, Peanut.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, in Conway. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Bible Baptist Church, with Dr. Vernon McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bible Baptist Church Building Fund.
