May 16, 1887 - January 4, 1968
Mrs. Ruby Pickering Hollingsworth, 905 Euclid Ave., died Thursday in a local nursing home following a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Fred A. Hollingsworth. Born May 15, 1887 at Village, she was the daughter of Sammie Alexander and W. R. Pickering. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Mrs. Hollingsworth was a graduate of Radnor College, Nashville, Tenn., and prior to her marriage in 1911, she was a music teacher and school teacher in Junction City and Wesson. She was an active partner in establishing and the operation of Hollingsworth Feed Store until her retirement in 1949. She was a member of the El Dorado Garden Club, Rose Society and the First Presbyterian Church where she was active until ill health forced her retirement. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Miller; two grandsons, Lt. Mike Miller of the U.S. Air Force at Dayton, Ohio, and Pat Miller, a student at the University of Arkansas; a great granddaughter, Michelle Miller; and a brother, A. C. Pickering of Wesson. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gary M. Jones Officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers will be Mack Hall, Herbert Moreland, C. L. Carelock, Dr. G. H. Landers, Hub Mook and Chuck J. Hoke. The family as requested that memorials be sent to the Dale Miller Fund for Kidney Research, in care of Robert Compton, 423 N. Washington Ave., El Dorado. (El Dorado Times - January 4, 1968)
