Sarah Jane Hunter McComb was born in Hempstead County, Arkansas Territory in 1825. Her parents were Hardy James "Horse" and Elizabeth Jane Clark Hunter. Sarah's grandfather was Benjamin Clark who served in the American Revolution. He is buried at Clarksville, Red River, Texas. Sarah married John McComb in 1842. She and John lived on their family farm near Brownstown, Sevier County, Arkansas for the rest of their lives.
