Ethel Faupel, 79, of Fayetteville died Sunday, May 8, 2005, in Arlington, Texas.
She was born April 18, 1926, in Grand Island, Neb., the daughter of Robert Michel and Blanche Mercedes Green Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years. Russell E. Faupel; sisters, Marguirite Lindgren and Helen Stelk and brothers, John, Bruce and Richard Kelly.
She was a member and past president of the Noon Kiwanis Club in Fayetteville, a faithful volunteer for her local hospital and churches and served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant during the Korean War, when she stand working with polio victims while teaching high school in Yuba City, Calif.
She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She retired as chief physical therapist from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Ethel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered.
She is survived by a son, Mike Faupel and his wife Karen of Fayetteville; two daughters, Kay D. Faupel and Anne L. Faupel, both of Arlington, Texas; a cherished grandchild, Luke Faupel; a brother, Donald Kelly of Grand Island, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Betty Kelly of Grand Island; many nieces and nephews across the country.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13 at Central United Methodist Church Wesley Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 9709, Fort Worth, Texas 76147.
Visiation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Moore's.
