Mr. John W. Parsley, age 78, of Forrest City, died Monday, April 9, 2001 at his home. Mr. Parsley was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Shannon, AR. He was the son of Grover Walton Parsley and Eula Mae Stalnaker Parsley. Mr. Parsley made his home in Forrest City the past 38 years. He was a farmer and member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Mr. Parsley married Betty Jane Young December 4, 1951 in Kennett, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 1993. He is survived by daughters, Dianna Ryan of Santa Cruz, CA, Sheila Young (Phillip "Jerry") of Alexander and Judy Parsley Furnish (Bruce) of Little Rock; son, Donald Parsley (Kim Waldron) of Caruthersville, Mo; two sisters, Joyce Parsley Zimmerman of CA. and Ouida Parsley Mullaly (Tomas, deceased) of Bradenton, FL.; four brothers, Rev. Dewan R. Parsley (Evelyn Eubanks) of Cotton Plant, Royce Gerald Parsley of Mountainview, Harold Dean Parsley (Lydia Evans) of IN and Walton Jan "Jan" Parsley (Barbara Iness, [1st wife Wanda Roark Parsley deceased]) of CA; Grandchildren: Dianna's sons Ryan and Aaron Dye; Sheila's children; Kendra Matthews (Shay) and James Young; Judy's daughters Allison & Rachel Furnish; and Donald's children, Tara Parsley Young and John Nicholas "Nick" Parsley; and great-grandchildren: Roddy, Scarlet (Ryan's children), Ashley and Ben Dye (Aaron's); Anthony James "A J" & Christopher Mason "Mason" Matthews, and Claire and Tyson Young. Funeral services will be held graveside, Wednesday, April, 11, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
