Paul Ray Smith, 82, while surrounded by his loving family, went to be with his Lord and Savior April 4, 2010.
Paul was born August 9, 1927 in Little Rock to the late Everett E. Smith and Sylvia Bates Smith.
Paul was preceded in death by his sons, Charles Winston “Chuck” Smith and Allen Clay Smith; sister, Doris Jean Furrer and brother Donald Wayne Smith.
Paul Smith was a very accomplished man. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War Two. He returned to his native Arkansas to raise a family and build a career as a master journeyman electrician, ultimately concluding his professional career as General Manager for Price-Fewell. Upon retirement he fulfilled his dream of being a self-employed cattleman working his farm with the support of his loving family and close friends. In retirement he also served his civic community as a Board member in the Cato Volunteer Fire Department and served his faith community as a proud member of Harmony Baptist Church. As a veteran, a career electrician, and a farmer, Paul Smith accomplished much in his life and was truly a self-made man. The accomplishments of which he was the most proud though are his “kids”, Chuck, Paula, Stephen, and Mycah, as well as his sixty-two year long marriage to his loving wife Macky. He will be missed by his many friends and devoted family.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Smith; his daughter, Paula Hall and son-in-law John Hall; his daughter-in-law, Karen Smith; his grandson, Dr. Stephen Smith, and his granddaughter Mycah Patrick; sister, Evelyn Kunze; and brother, Everett “Jitter” Harold Smith.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, (501) 327-7727 with Brother’s Norman Powell and Bill Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Sherwood.
Visitation will be general.
Pallbearers will be Chick Furrer, Larry Furrer, Terry Furrer, Paul Kunze, Sammy Stuart, and Mike Oaks.
