Jessie Wayne "Powder" Appleton, 76, of Paris died Tuesday, Dec 14, 2010, in Paris.
Wayne was born Dec 29, 1933, in Paris to the late Lambert and Beulah (Rodgers) Appleton.
Wayne was a retired military police officer of 22 years for the US Air Force. After Wayne retired, he worked as a security officer for the nuclear plant and River Valley Animal Foods, and he drove cars for Paris Ford.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and Beulah Appleton; three sisters, Catherine Rogers, Mary Jean Brown and Pat Gilbert; and three brothers, Jim, Leon and Harold Appleton.
Wayne is survived by his wife of almost 36 years, Mary (Anhalt) Appleton of Paris; two daughters, Lisa Dawn Ezell and husband Jerry of Subiaco and Robin Lee Farmer and husband Boyd of Paris; four sons, Randy Wayne of Arizona, Gary Lee and wife Candy of Poughkeepsie, NY, Dwayne Keith of Alma and Nicky Don Mings and wife Julie of Paris; 11 grandchildren, Terra Reames and husband Keith, Bianka Ezell, Nickole Mings, Boydie Farmer and wife Kimber, Levi Farmer, Brooke Mings, Angel Appleton, Hailey Mings, Connor Appleton, Makenzie Appleton and Cara Appleton; six great-grandchildren, Cameron Ezell, Hunter Reames, Drake Campoli, Tanner Reed, Ty Farmer and one on the way.
Rosary service was 5 pm Thursday, December 17 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to follow.
Funeral service was 10 a.m. Friday, December 18 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, officiated by Fr. Eugene Luke O.S.B., under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Pallbearers were Joe Schluterman, Tim Schluterman, Marcus Berry, Keith Reames, Jerry Swedeen and Boyd Farmer.
Honorary pallbearers were Leon Askins, Ralph Cooper, William "Bill" Grist, J.T. Rogers, Linwood Mills, A.W. Parks, Ralph Hoppensteadt, Doug Appleton and Jerry Ezell.
