Ben Clint Johnson, Sr., was born March 13, 1924 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Ben Clint and Edsil Vanwinkle Johnson. Ben was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Susie and a son, Ben Clint Johnson, Jr. He is survived by his former wife, Jean Young Miranda and their step-children, Patricia (Rudy) Fenton, Haley (Guy) Yaniger and Ellery Johnson, two half-brothers, Archie and Claude Griffin. He is also survived by his wife of 35 years, Jo Anne Stuart and step-children, Dennis, Douglas and Doyne Bonner and Grace Ann Beaver, Dawn Guthridge, and Dorothy Barton. He leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, both natural and by marriage.
Ben was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army. He worked for Bean Music Company in Little Rock repairing band instruments, then Thevenet Electric Company as an electrician. In 1989, he retired from the City of Little Rock as electrical inspector and master electrician. In post-retirement he repaired band instruments for the Sage Music Service in Heber Springs.
While a member of Sugarloaf Baptist Church, Ben sang tenor in the choir and loved being a part of the music program. When the current sanctuary was constructed, he helped install the electrical wiring. Ben enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing, big band music of the 40's and southern gospel music. We can celebrate his "home-going" because he was a born-again Christian who has taken that sentimental journey home.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Heber Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be 1:30 pm, Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Sugarloaf Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Blanton and Rev. Tony Criswell officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Banner, Arkansas with Military Honors by the Heber Springs American Legion.

Patricia, Haley and Ellery are Ben Johnson’s real children, not step children. Thank you
