Shirrell “Bud” Simpson, 68 of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2007. He was born in Mt. Vernon on July 5, 1939 and was a son to the late Noah and Nettie Mae (Sublett) Simpson. Bud will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Barney Baptist Church and a life long truck driver, having driven for Ward Body Works in Conway and as an independent; he and his family also ran a dairy farm for eight years. A brother James Daniel Simpson and a sister Shirley Cates preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Alma Lee (Dees) Simpson; a son Tommy Simpson and wife Amanda; a daughter, Sherry Boucher and husband Ken; 2 grandchildren: Kendell and Tyler Holland, all of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Jean Stripling and husband Darrell of Clinton, AR.; a sister-in-law, Sue Simpson Fisher; a brother-in-law, Bill Cates and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will take place at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, in Conway, on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., interment to follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, in Mt. Vernon. Family visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are: Raymond Sublett, Ryan Stripling, Brad McKay, Danny Simpson, Joe McDonald, and Larry Simpkson.
