Pfc. Earl R. Burton Dies on Okinawa
Pfc. Earl R. Burton died of wounds on Okinawa May 12, the war department has informed his mother Mrs. L. R. Burton, former resident, now living at Wichita, Kans. Before engaging in the Okinawa campaign he had helped liberate two islands.

Pfc. Burton.....spent his life here until he entered the army in August, 1941. He was sent to the Pacific Theater of Operations in January 1945, and was killed in action in Okinawa.
(He shares a double tombstone with a brother that had died in 1938.)
