Two Elizabeth Youths Die in Car Wreck Near Viola

Two Fulton County youths, both of Elizabeth, died Saturday as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident one-quarter mile east of the Baxter-Fulton County line on Highway 62. B. J. Foster 19, was killed instantly and Gaylon Young 17 died within five minutes after the accident, when a pickup truck driven by Foster left the highway. A third occupant of the truck, Hayden Smith was not seriously injured. The young men had been to Viola and were driving west. No other vehicle was involved and it is believed the driver last control of the machine. The truck was practically demolished. Funeral services for the two young men were held in the Viola school auditorium on Wednesday afternoon. Burial for both victims were in the Elizabeth cemetery, Elder Frank Puckett of Calico Rock conducted the services for Foster and Rev. Carl Davis of Elizabeth conducted services for Young. Gaylon Young was a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Young of Elizabeth. He was a student in Viola High School Surviving are his parents; six brothers, Cecil, Odell and G. W. Young of Kansas City, Mo., Billy Young in the Army, stationed in Panama Canal Zone, Donald Ray and Bobby Young of the home and six sisters, Mrs. Thelma Mahan of West Plains, Mo., Mrs. Eunice Martin of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Beatrice Cole of Pittman, Nevada, Mrs. Irene Messiana of Lindenhurst, N. Y., Mrs. Arcille Koscia of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Winifred Dockins of Dolph, Ark. Johnnie Brown Foster is survived by his father, Elmer Foster of Elizabeth; two brothers, Garland Foster of Kansas City, and Emmett Foster of Elizabeth; and four sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Kerley of Elizabeth, Mrs. Agnes Reasons of Bakersfield, Mo., Mrs. Leta Faye Owens of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Jessie Hopper of Viola.
