Danny Dean Hicks, 63

Danny Dean Hicks, 63, a resident of Mountain Home passed away Monday, June 25, 2012, at his residence.

He was born August 16, 1948, in Bucklin, Kansas. Danny attended Calico Rock High School and then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Joanne Southard on March 25, 1970, in Calico Rock. Danny retired from Centurytel in 2005 after 19 years of service. He enjoyed four wheeling, spending time with family and friends at the cabin, but most importantly he enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joanne Hicks of Mountain Home; a son, Bobby Dean Hicks of Mountain Home; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Tim Lindquist of Mountain Home; three grandchildren, Micah Maryann Neubauer, Braden Dean Hicks and James Samuel Lindquist; his mother-in-law, Mary Adkins of Midway; three sisters-in-law and their spouses, Betty and Barton Teague of Salem, Maxine Coggins of Springfield, Missouri and Wilma and Shorty Teegarden of Norfork; an aunt and uncle, Huey and Ruby Hicks of Harrison and other relatives and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Homer R Hicks; his father-in-law, Eudell Southard; a grandmother who raised him, Lottie Tracy; a sister, Mary Heiskill; a brother-in-law, Franklin Coggins and two nephews, Michael Coggins and Desi Jones.

Pallbearers were Chris Brim, Jessy Foster, Buck Neubauer, Randall McCoy, Jeffery Teegarden and Ty Staggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Langhammer, Kay Cooper, Rick Wiersma and Lynn Coggins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Slot 66, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202-3591 or Twin Lakes Shrine Club, Post Office Box 1330, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72654 or Curtis-Acklin Cemetery, c/o Larry Havner, 2586 Highway 5 South, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653.
