Elizabeth Larrine Mayfield died Monday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Mayfield, near Buttram Chapel at the age of 13 years and 10 months. She has been ill for some weeks from a complication of diseases following the flu. Besides her parents she is survived by two sisters and a brother. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Buttram Chapel by Rev. J.W. Critchlow of Rogers and Rev. Bone. The deceased was loved by all who knew her and she leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss.

Died, Bess Mayfield, early Tuesday morning, March 24, 1925, aged 13 years and 10 months. Interment was made at the Buttram Chapel cemetery same afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The death angel has again entered our community and taken from Mr. and Mrs. James Mayfield their daughter, Elizabeth Lorine, aged 13 years and 10 months. Bess, as she was known, was a child with a sweet and happy disposition, giving promise of exceptional intelligence and had arrived at an age where she made herself a source of joy in the home.

MAYFIELD, Elizabeth Lorean - Elizabeth Lorean, daughter of Jas. and Nannie Mayfield, was born May 23, 1911 and departed this life on March 24, 1925. She was better known as Bess and was loved by everyone who knew her, for she was such a sweet, kind character that it seemed to be her delight to make others happy. When eleven years of age she was converted and united with the Methodist church, South to which faith she was true until the end. The funeral service was conducted by her pastor, assisted by Rev. J. Wilson Crichlow of Rogers, after which her remains were laid to rest in Buttram Chapel cemetery where members of four generations of her father’s people sleep. Her Pastor, Willie Thomas Bone.
