George Washington Dale son of the late Jerome and Meddie Caraway Dale was born May 8, 1903 in Izard County. He died December 31, 1995 in Melbourne. He was 92.
Mr Dale was united in marriage to Lela Stevens in 1922 in Stone County. After her death George was united in marriage to Opel Haney in November 1976 in Melbourne. He was a member of the New Home Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Gladys Blankenship of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; one step-daughter, Romona Dale of Guion; one son Earl Dale of Yakima, Washington; one step-son, Kenneth Haney of Mattawa, Washington; one sister, Gladys Sipe of Clinton; three half-sisters, Lillie Dodd of Batesville; Inez Pierson of Batesville and Martha Bruce of Kennewick, Washington; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two sons and one daughter.
Services were held January 3, 1996 at the Howard Chapel in Melbourne with Brother Leonard Williams officiating.
Pallbearers were Coy Dale, Jerry Dale, Gary Dale, Lonnie McCall, Johnny Blankenship and Kenneth Fleming. Honorary pallbearers were; David McNeil, Bobby Blankenship and Roger Winkle.
Interment was at Wiseman Cemetery in Wiseman under the direction of Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
