PARSONS, T. - Rev. T. Parsons died at his home in this city on Sunday morning of heart disease. The funeral service was held at the Congregational church on Tuesday, January 12. The Rev. J.S. Cummins of the M.E. church offered prayer and an impressive sermon was preached by Rev. R.C. Walton, pastor of the Congregational church who had known Rev. Parsons in England. The remains were interred at the Rogers cemetery. We are indebted to Rev. Walton for the following biography of the deceased: Rev. T. Parsons was born on Nov. 24, 1833 in London in the parish of Mary le borne, being the youngest of the four sons of Robt. and Isabel Parsons. He was married to the eldest daughter of Rev. J. Matfin, by whom he leaves one son, a minister in the United States, and three daughters. He was superannuated in July 1896, leaving with his family for America, settling at Rogers, Ark. His health improved and he seemed to be in the best of spirits. He was, however, on Sunday morning, the 10th of January, attacked with a pain in the region of the heart. The family tried to alleviate the pain but in three-quarters of an hour he had passed away with the words "my Savior" on his lips. He was distinguished among men for many excellencies. He was one of the best preachers in his church. His sermons show great care in their preparation. His writings, too, were of fine order, being the product of a highly spirited mind, informed by constant reading and study of the Word of God.
