Boyse Boyd Harral, age 91, of Wilburn, Arkansas, the son of the late James and Ina Johnson Harral, was born February 12, 1915 at Wilburn and passed away August 10, 2006 at Heber Springs.

Orphaned at age 14, Boyse struck out on his own at age18 and soon joined the United States Army at $21.00 per month. He attended night school and received a degree in sheet metal engineering. Boyce spent almost two years in Europe toward the end of World War II, and he earned several medals of honor for outstanding service to his country.

Boyse retired at age 62 and returned to Wilburn, Arkansas, where he spent most of his time gardening, sharing his beautiful flowers and vegetables with neighbors. He designed blue bird houses out of gallon food cans and made hundreds of them with anyone interested in blue birds. Perhaps his greatest joy was helping Boy Scouts and school kids assemble those bird houses and showing them how important those birds were to society. Several hundred of those bird houses are still being occupied by blue birds.

An ardent wood turner, he designed and turned hundreds of laminated vases and bowls of various woods that he shared with his many friends and earned him many blue ribbons. Poor health forced him to give up shop work.

A member of Wilburn Community Church, he was preceded in death by both wives, Dorthy Mayfield Harral and Margie McDougal Ellis Harral; one sister, Letta Harral Taylor, and three brothers, Otto, Albert, and Brose Harral.

He is survived by one brother, Rex Harral of Wilburn; two sisters, Neva Taylor of Paragould and Reta Barras of California, and a loving and caring stepdaughter, May Hill of Wilburn. Boyse is also survived by a host of friends and many relatives.
