George Clifton "Sonny" Morgan Jr., 76, of Warren, died February 17, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center at Little Rock.
He was born March 9, 1926, at Warren, a son of the late George Clifton Morgan Sr. and Ruth Caplinger Morgan.
He received his education in the public schools at Warren, graduating in 1944. He served in the Philippines during World War II with the Army Air Corps. He graduated from Hendrix College in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
He was a partner in his father's wholesale lumber business and was sales manager in specialty products at Potlatch Corporation before his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the Southern Pine Association. He was a member, deacon, elder and treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Warren Country Club, and member, board member and former president of the Warren YMCA. He was a board member of the Bradley County Medical Foundation.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Janet Morgan Meek.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Wilkins "Wickie" Word Morgan, whom he married August 19, 1948, at Marianna; three sons, Cliff Morgan of Memphis, Michael Morgan of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Charlie Morgan of Belton, Missouri; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home at Warren.
