William Jones MoPac Ex-Agent
William Wallace Jones,94, of Redfield, formerly of Warren, died Monday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
He was a depot agent for Missouri Pacific Lines for 62 years, including 24 years as depot agent at Warren. He began his service with the company in 1905 at Bauxite.
He was also a band leader, a pilot, a member of the Warren Rotary Club, Warren Public Housing Commission and Gideons International, and a former scoutmaster.
He served in the armed forces during World War I and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
He was a deacon and secretary-treasurer of First Assembly of God Church at Warren.
Survivors include six sons, Wallace W. Jones and John Paul Jones, both of Pine Bluff, Bruce Edward Jones of Sheridan, Harry Kendall Jones of San Pablo, California, Baxter Calvin Jones of Rison and Freddie Lee Jones of Houston; four daughters, Mrs. Christabel Tucker and Mrs. Christine Strahan, both of Pine Bluff, Mrs, Hortence Mercy of Redfield and Mrs. Betty Sue King of Little Rock; a brother, Bruce A. Jones of Sheridan; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rohwer of Miami and Mrs. Lizzy Wisdom of Benton: 22 grand-children; 19 great-grand-children; and six great-great-grandchildren.
