He was a major general of the United States Air Force. Appointed as a flying cadet in February 1935, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant of the Air Corps, Oct. 1, 1936. He achieved the rank of major general on June 1, 1960 and on July 22, 1962, he became comptroller of the Headquarters Logistics Command. during his service he was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Air Defense Service Medal, the Victory Medal for World War II, the Bronze Star Medal, the Occupation Medal in Germany, the American Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, and the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
