Son of George Franklin Long & Mary Elizabeth Billingsley Long.

Stokley Edward Long born near Franklin, Arkansas, September 11, 1881, died October 19, 1977 in Medical Center of Calico Rock at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 8 days. The son of George F. and Mary Billingsley Long, lived his entire life in Izard County.

Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Victoria Tyler, Gassville, Ark., Mrs. Iona Rodman, Washington state, Mrs. Maggie Moser, Calico Rock, Ark., Mrs. Nora Kankey, W Elenderideman, Ark. and Mrs Bertha Jones, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.

He acknowledged his faith in Christ in his early youth, became a member of Corinth Methodist Church and expressed a desire to study for ministry in his younger days. He was a farmer. Later in life he lived in a house by the side of the road and was a friend to every man.

Graveside services were held in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Rev. Gordon Donham conducted the service and arrangements by Howard Funeral Home.

[Note: The inscribed death date of 1978 on the gravestone is obviously incorrect based upon the information in the obituary and from the date that the obituary was published.]
