Judge Fletcher D. Majors was a former state senator and representative. He practiced law for over 60 years beginning in 1908 when he was admitted to the Arkansas Bar. In 1926 he was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar and was then admitted to practice law in the U.S. District Court at a later date. In the early 30's he served as Yell County Judge for six years. In 1936-1940 he was a state senator for Yell and Logan counties. He was in the state legislature for Yell County 1951 –1955. He also was appointed to the State Tax Office and served there for another four years. Prairie Grove was his home until 1926, when he moved to Dardanelle. At times during his career he was a schoolteacher and also was a member of the Dardanelle School Board.
Fletcher at 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Dardanelle Hospital. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Dardanelle. Survivors include his wife, Mrs Marie Wells Majors; a son F D Majors, Jr of Danville; a sister, Mrs Ella Stafford of Ada, OK; and three grandchildren.
