Orgel T. Mason of Brockwell, son of the late Walter and Alma Dillard Mason, was born on October 11, 1916 in Oxford. He died on February 27, 2002 in Mountain Home. He was 85.

Mr. Mason was united in marriage to Geneva Helm on February 12, 1938 in Melbourne. To this union two children were born. Most of his working years were spent doing what he loved, teaching music at the Brockwell Music School He was a member of the Forrest Chapel Methodist Church in Brockwell. He is survived by two sons, Loye Vern Mason of Brockwell; and Chaney Lee Mason of Chattanooga. Tennessee; two sisters, Ila White and Reba Davis both of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Loyanna Everett, Robin Mason, Jessica Campbell, Sean Mason, Palmer Mason, Natalie Mason and Michael Mason; three great-grandchildren, Anna Kay Everett, Chandler Mason, Christian Mason and a host of other relatives and many good friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers, Vernon, Paul, Obed and Kenneth Mason and two infant sisters. Funeral services were March 3, 2002 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Loye Vern and Chaney Mason officiating. Pallbearers were Vern Garner, Bernard Eymann, Bud Wheeler, Bobby McCollum, Verl Mason and Ed Luedtke. Honorary pallbearers were Ace Garner and Eckley Schatzman. Interment was at Forest Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
