Louie Barnes, 68, of Zion passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009 in Melbourne.

Louie was born Monday, December 23, 1940 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was the son of Preston and Minnie (Massengale) Barnes.

He retired as a fabrication assembler for Boeing. Louie loved car racing, rebuilding cars, hunting and fishing. He was part Cherokee Indian and was proud of that heritage. He was a member of the Melbourne Church of Christ. Louie loved his family and was a man who never wanted material things, just what he needed.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Forrest) Barnes of the home; his son, Brent Barnes of West Plains, Missouri; daughters: Nicole Tate and her husband, Cole of Melbourne; Kimberly Barnes of Zion; Cynthia Garay and her husband, Miguel; five grandchildren: Destiny Tate, Logan Barnes, Gage Barnes, Courtney Garay and Alex Garay; two brother and sisters-in-law: Cecil and Louise Barnes of Poteau, Oklahoma, Elery and Brenda Barnes of Wenatchee, Washington; and sister, Hope Kuhmer.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Manual Olivares.

Pallbearers will be Cole Tate, Michael Reynolds, Brent Barnes, Adam Fitzsimmons, Devin Ramsey and Matt Palmer. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Dickerson, Bobby Kelley, Josh Pittman and Stephen Falk.

Burial was at Forrest Chapel Cemetery in Violet Hill, Arkansas.
