Ulus Andy Broyles, 82, of Vilonia died Thursday (Oct. 8, 1998) at his home. Born March 15, 1916, in Fox (Stone County), a son of James and Elzada Williams Broyles, he was a switchman for Missouri Pacific Railroad for 34 years and member of First Baptist Church of Vilonia. He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church and ministered at the Van Buren County Detention Center. He was also a former city marshall and volunteer fireman for Sherwood and 32nd Degree past master of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Broyles and Duane Broyles; four brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren. Survivors are his wife, Maeola Wilson Broyles; four daughters, Melba Riley of Sherwood, Linda Morden of North Little Rock, Rebecca McGuire of Greenbrier and Brenda Knight of Vilonia; a son, Ricky Broyles of Pettigrew (Madison County); three brothers, Leonard Broyles of Mountain View, Grady Broyles of El Monte, Calif., and Dennis Broyles of Onia (Stone County); 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Vilonia with the Rev. Tom Hart and the Rev. John Hamby officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Valley Cemetery by Griffin Leggett-Conway. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Vilonia.
