July 20, 1954 - August 6, 2010
Rick D. Abbott 56, of Greers Ferry passed away on Friday Aug. 6, 2010 at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1954 in Alpena, MI.
He ran and operated Horseshoe Mountain Auction and drove a truck delivering residential propane for Reynolds Brothers Propane for 10 years. While doing his work he made many friends with both his co-workers and customers.
He loved spending time outdoors, especially on the lake. Rick was a very dedicated family man. He was the Rock of the family and taught good values. He was the first to correct and quick to defend.
He was loved very much by his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Glennda Abbott, a son; Tommy Wayne Johnston and wife Wendy K. of Greenbrier, a daughter; Denise M. Bogner of Maryland, a sister; Jean Sanders of Michigan, a nephew, Terry Sanders, grandchildren; T.J. Patrick Johnston, Gage Wendall Johnston, Grayson Thomas Johnston, Madison Bogner, John Dennis Bogner, and Zachery Bogner.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Dorthea Mitcalf, brothers; David Mitcalf, and Bill Zibble.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Mon. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Services will be 1pm Tues Aug. 10 at the funeral home with Bro. Russell Marshall and Bro. Tom New officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery, with David Powell, Aron Trulove, Mike Snyder, Wendle Ramsey, Mike Klien, and Chris Everette serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Johnston.
