PINEVILLE — Bobby Gene Whiteaker, 60, of Pineville died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, in Calico Rock.

Born Jan. 9, 1950, in Batesville, he was the son of Bobby Gene "Tobe" Whiteaker Sr. and Mary Edith Ivie Whiteaker. He was a lifelong resident of Izard County. He graduated from Calico Rock High School and Arkansas State University, where he received a degree in agriculture. He was united in marriage to Debra Bulkley on Aug. 13, 1986. He was employed by Repcon as a project manager in the petrochemical industries. He had been employed by the Izard County Sheriff's Office as a deputy for eight years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, coon hunting, deer hunting in Arkansas and Colorado, farming, hunting, fishing and operating a bull dozer. Last year he went on a safari to Africa, bagging many exotic animals. He was an active member of Trimble Campground Church and was active in community affairs, devoting many years to the Jaycees.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years; his mother of Pineville; seven children, Lorra Shaw of Mountain Home, Regina Love of Mount Pleasant, Willie Whiteaker and Kristie Branscum, both of Pineville, Jason Brungardt of Conway, Bobby Joe Smyser of Zachary, La., and Misty Waire of Norfork; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Jamie Cowgill and Jimmy Thompson officiating. Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Rex Whiteaker, Danny Moser, David Cantrell, Jimmy Mitchell, Raymond Branscum and Dennis Inskeep.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Robert Lane, Ronnie McClellan and Howard Winwood.

Memorials may be made to Trimble Campground Church.
