Norman A. Doughty, age 78, of Roland, passed away, Thursday, June 25, 2009. He was born July 6, 1930 in Chouteau, Oklahoma, a son of late Luther Daniel Doughty and Ocel Opal Williams Doughty. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech with a B.A. in Parks and Recreation and horticulturist for the city of Hot Springs. He was also a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and the Perryville Masonic Lodge # 238. Norman enjoyed history, genealogy, hunting and talking with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Newkirk Doughty of Roland; son, David Doughty and wife Jan of Houston, Arkansas; daughter, Darlene Turek and husband Brad of Cleora, Oklahoma; step-sons, Jeff Newkirk and wife Debbie of Roland; Jim Newkirk and wife Joyce of Little Rock; John Newkirk and wife Sharon of Maumelle; Ron Thompson of Houston, Arkansas; brothers, Bill Doughty and wife Francine; Darrall Doughty and wife Janice; Nelson Doughty and wife Mary all of Houston, Arkansas; Charles Doughty and wife Rose of Perryville; sisters, Vida Wright and husband Bill of Perryville, and Dolores Honeysuckle and husband Kenneth of Houston, Arkansas, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his second wife, Bonnie Thompson and son, Danny Doughty.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Corrigan and Bro. Will Doughty officiating. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Perryville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Old Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the building fund of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
