John C. Dillard Dies at Home Here Monday
John C. Dillard, well known citizen of this place and a life-long resident of Izard County, died at his home here, at an early hour Monday morning, March 6, 1950. He had been in failing health for several months and had been confined at home for the past several weeks. He underwent a major operation in a Little Rock hospital several weeks ago.
Mr. Dillard was born in the vicinity of Calico Rock. He was 78 years of age. He was married to Dora Belle Killian August 30, 1901. He united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church early in life and remained a member of the church at Pineville until death. He was a member of the Odd Fellows order with membership with the Pineville Lodge for almost 50 years.
Surviving are his wife; one son, James W. Dillard of Calico Rock; two half-brothers, George Dillard of Calico Rock and Albert Dillard of Bexar; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lela Russell of Creswell and Mrs. Lilia Reidenbaugh of West Helena, Ark. and one grandson, Rudolph Dillinger of Viola, Ark.
Funeral services were conducted at the Pineville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. Services were conducted by Rev. J. E. Williamson, assisted by Rev. W. C. Stewart. Burial was in the Pineville Cemetery, under direction of the Roller-Barber Funeral Service.
Pall bearers were: Vernon Dillard, Rudolph Dillard, Lowell Sexton, James Durig, Verner Killian, and Buck Raby.
