February 10,1901 - Sweetwater, Missouri
May 4, 1927
"Son of John Henry & Katherine (Hunt) Berkenbile. He married Mary Vina Perry on August 27, 1920. She was the daughter of Alfred & Kizzy (Knox) Perry & was born February 13,1902 in Indian Territory near Dover, Oklahoma & died March 15,1994. My mother was 2 1/2 years old when her father Fritz died two days after contracting blood poisoning while shearing sheep. He had been bitten by a tick & his coworker cut the tick out with the same knife he had used on the sheep. His wife Mary who was 6 months pregnant, was left alone to raise her 5 year old son, my mother and the baby girl who was born in August. There was no other family near by. Three weeks after my aunt was born, the small family took the train to northern Oklahoma to live with relatives. "
