Matthew Shane Nicholas the son of Melton “Pete” Nicholas and Pam (Rogers) Nicholas Shempert. Matthew Shane Nicholas leaves also his stepfather, Jay Shempert and step mother, Mary Nicholas.

Matthew Shane Nicholas, 21, of Brookland, died Tuesday evening following a vehicle accident. He was an employee for Robin Nix Construction in Jonesboro and a member of the Alicia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his fiancee, Suzanne Waits of Brookland; his father and stepmother, Pete and Mary Nicholas of Jonesboro; his mother and stepfather, Jay and Pam Shempert of Brookland; one brother, Lowell Nicholas of Walnut Ridge; two sisters, Stephanie Nicholas of Jonesboro and Tiffany Nicholas of Brookland; four stepbrothers, Adam Shempert of Foley, Minn., Wes Lehman of Conway, Ryan Shempert and Eric Lehman, both of Jonesboro; two stepsisters, Sara Lehman and Tara Lehman, both of Jonesboro; his maternal grandparents, Lilburn and Ann Rogers of Alicia; his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Turner of Black Rock; and his maternal great grandmother, Reba Haigwood of Walnut Ridge.

Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11 at Alicia Baptist Church, with Bro. Jerry Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in the Strangers Home Cemetery under the direction of the Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Visitation will be this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
