Hubert W. Smithson Dies Suddenly Monday Morning

Hubert W. Smithson, well known citizen of this place died unexpectedly Monday morning, after suffering a heart attack. Apparently as well as usual, he was standing on the lower side of Main Street, talking to friends, when he collapsed and expired within a very short time.

Mr. Smithson was a life-long resident of this section. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Smithson, he was born September 9, 1903. He was married to Miss Cumi Kytle, January 24, 1924. To this union was born five children. He was a devout Christian and a faithful husband and father.

Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Estes of Forty-Four, Ark., Mrs. Imogene Simpson and Mrs. Iva Lee Jones both of DeSoto, Kansas and Mrs. Ida Beth Randall of Bromer Springs, Kansas; one son David of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Mahala Jett of Brockwell, Ark., and Mrs. Ruth Mason of Calico Rock; one brother, Kirby Smithson of Wenatchee, Wash., and 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at Calico Rock Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. W. C. Steward of Melbourne. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, with the Hall Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
