Dr Forbes was the father of 16 children with his two spouses.

Daughter of John and Matilda Andrews.
Children: Lee W., Sarah Alice Marrow, William J., Clemming Casey, Molly Welch, Emma, Ida, George, Daisy, and Joseph.
Dr. Forbes was a Masonic Mason. In 1863, he began to practice medicine in Oregon Co, MO. In 1871, he set up practice in Hackett City a.k.a. Hackett),AR. In 1877, He drug store which he operated until 1885, when he sold it to his sons. Besides his medical practice and drug store, in 1880 he opened a dry goods store in 1880 through 1885, after which he devoted all his attention to his medical practice.
