An automobile wreck that occurred at Sunflower, Kansas on Friday night, July 2, took the life of a former Calico Rock youth, Dwaine "Buddy" Seay, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ewell Seay, residents of Sunflower the past three years.
The accident occurred as Dwaine and two other young men were returning from DeSoto, Kansas and as they were on the outskirts of Sunflower. Kenny Taylor of Sunflower was the driver of the 1951 Ford sedan which turned over when it struck a short stretch of loose grave in rounding a curve.
Young Seay was on the right side and was thrown clear of the car, receiving fatal injuries about the head. The other two occupants of the car escaped with minor bruises.
The body was returned here Saturday night by the Hall Funeral Service and funeral services were conducted at Calico Rock Methodist Monday at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Luther K. Wilson of Little Rock officiating. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery, the Hall Funeral Service being in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were: J. O. Cheney, Earl King, Dr. Noel Copp, Bobbie Ferrill, Bobbie McCormack and Kennie Taylor.
Ewell Dwaine Seay was born at Calico Rock December 13, 1936. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are his parents; three sisters, Shirley, Mary Linn and Joey; one brother, Charles all of Sunflower, Kansas; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. J. L. Lindsey and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Seay, all of Calico Rock and a host of relatives and friends.
