Carl E. Specht, 71, a former 23-year Barstow resident, died of cancer Thursday, April 20, 2000, at his home in Ash Flat, Ark. Born in Los Angeles, Specht lived in Barstow for 23 years until moving to Ash Flat in 1993. He was an employee of Standard Oil Co. for 20 years and an electrician for Santa Fe Railroad for 17 years. Specht was a deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Barstow and the First Baptist Church in Ash Flat. Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Ida Falk Specht of Ash Flat, Ark.; three sons, Carl D. Specht of Glendora, Craige Specht of Ventura, and James Specht of Barstow; two daughters, Carol Baily of Barstow and Janice Norton of Ventura; and 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Janet Specht. Services were held April 25, 2000, in Ash Flat, Ark. Burial was at Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat. Memorial donations may be sent to the Music Department of First Baptist Church of Ash Flat, Ark. 72513. Cox-Estes-Blevins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
