Herschel Lamon Meeks, 78, of Black Rock, died July 1, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Memphis.
Born Dec. 13, 1931, in Black Rock, he was the son of Curtis and Johnie Woodson Meeks. He had worked at SKIL and was a self-employed construction worker. He was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Riley Meeks, Otho Curtis Meeks and Charles D. Meeks.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Meeks; seven children, Betsy Lynn Phillips, Brumley, Mo., Teresa Clark, Cord, Herschel Meeks, Rita Dickson and Donna Augustine and Rick Meeks, all of Black Rock, and Lisa Bryant, West Memphis; five brothers, Frank Meeks, Winston Meeks, Bill Meeks, Curtis Meeks and Jim Meeks; two sisters, Faye Shannon and Shirley Williams; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was Friday at 2 p.m. at Oak Forest Cemetery with Dale Cobble officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Herschel Meeks, Ricky Meeks Jr., Rusty Meeks, Bryan Meeks, Dustin Meeks, Blake Meeks, Josh Clark, Gary Clark II, Clayton Augustine, Ethan Augustine and Ryan Dickson.
