*obituary
Cotter Courier
April 15, 1910
W.H. Roberts, an old and respected citizen, was killed by passenger train No 210 last Monday about 12:15PM near his home.
Mr. Roberts lived near the railroad track. He left his house and started down to his spring which is across the railroad. He seemed not to know the train was coming or thought he could cross the track in safety, but failed to cross the track in time and was struck by the train and killed instantly. The train brought the body to Cotter and Squire S.E. Denton summoned a jury and held and inquest over it. The remains were carried back home by passenger train No 209 later in the afternoon.
The deceased was 73 years old and leaves a wife and two children to mourn his sad and unexpected death. He had resided in this country more tan 50 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Buford and has many friends who will regret to hear of his tragic death.
The Courier extends to the bereaved family and friends of the deceased their profound sympathy.
