Charles Daniel Pitchford, 85, a retired school teacher of Mt. Home, died Friday afternoon in a local hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 2PM Sunday at East Side Baptist Church in Mt. Home with Rev. O.I. Ford officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Buford, under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home.
Mr. Pitchford was born at Duncan, MO, on February 9, 1877, the son of the late William Pitchford and Mary Smith Pitchford. He had lived in Baxter County since 1891 and taught in the rural schools of this county for a number of years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Pitchford of the Home; a son, Charles Ellis and a daughter, Mrs. Rosetta Grishum both of Mt. Home; two brothers, John Pitchford of Mt. Home and Ray Pitchford of Sulphur Rock; a sister , Miss Maude Pitchford of Mt. Home and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Louis Knight, Kenneth Jackson, Noel Peace, Truman Smith, Clyde Lance and Miller.
