According to his pension applications, Benjamin Franklin Murphy served in three units in Missouri under two names—Benjamin Franklin Murphy, and an alias of Berry Franklin Murphy which also is inscribed on his gravestone. He was known as Frank Murphy.

Died Buford, Baxter County, Arkansas.

Frank Murphy, an old citizen of this community, who has made his home with his daughter, E.M. Smothers, died after a short illness on Saturday morning, May 8, and was buried at Fairview the following day. Rev. Osburn preached the funeral sermon.
