*Obituary December 11, 1930
Bartley Wallace Doyle was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, December 26, 1856. There he grew up to manhood, and there he found his life
companion in Miss Nancy Jane King. They were united in marriage November 25, 1877. Which, after 36 happy years was severed by the grim reaper,
death, when he took his life companion on the seventh day of October, 1913. This union was blessed with 11 children. One went to the other land
on May 24, 1925, namely the eldest, Maggie. Ten remain to mourn the loss of dear father, but not so much that have no hope. All are looking forward to a reuniting at the Master's Throne. Those remaining are James T. of Stuttgart, Ark; William, Stuttgart, Ark.;
Vessie Findley of Almyra, Ark.; Theordore of Toronto, Kans.; Lyman Prentiss of Almyra, Ark.; Mrs. Ina Bennett of Almyra, Ark.; Bartley of
Almyra, Shirley Louis of De Witt, Ark.; Mrs. Lu Vema Ives of Stuttgart and Alva Leland of Almyra. Besides these, there are 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also two brothers, P. D. and Charter, and two sisters,
Mrs. Lillie Clayton and Miss Francis Doyle, all of Knoxville, Tenn., as well as a host of other relatives and friends. But what is their
loss is his gain. One of the sons, Theodore, of Toronto, Kans., could not be present at
his father's funeral. His two brothers and two sisters were unable to come. One sister-in-law, Mrs. Charter Doyle and son Elbert, came from
Tenn. May the Allwise God comfort them today.
About 38 years ago he, with his family, moved to Kansas. About 19 years ago he with his companion and part of the family came to Arkansas in this neighborhood. By occupation a farmer, he died on the farm where his daughter, Mrs. Ina Benett, was keeping house for him.
Though he was not a Christian until after middle age of his life, he had all his children brought up in the church, and Sunday school. In 1915 in the fall he was converted to God and joined the Bethel M. E.
Church, South, of which he was a member to his end. With a testimony, "I am ashamed to give my wornout years to the Lord," he did give
testimony that early life should yield to God. He is spoken of as a good man. This is the best that can be said of any man. On the eleventh day of December, 1930, in the early morning his soul took flight or leave from the body to be with Him, whom he served.
Being on that day 73 years, 11 months and 15 days of age.
Longfellow:
"The course of my life hath reached the last, In fragile bark o'er tempestuous sea, The common harbor, where must rendered be, Account of all the actions of the past."
