Funeral service for T.E. 'Edwin' Bird of Mt. Home will be at 9PM Thursday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Robert Doom and John M. McCormack officiating. Mr. Bird died Friday (Dec 30, 1994) at his home. He was 72.
Visitation sill be from 9AM to 9PM Wednesday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends from 7-9PM. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with James Roy Morgan, Jeremy Stubelt, Chip Bailey, Dennis Bailey, Tom Gilbert and Mike Beal serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Enders, Butch Holligan, Bob Hammond, Tim Miller, Willard Branstetter and Cecil Isaac.
Formerly of Aurora, MO, Mr. Bird had been a resident here for 12 years. He was a retired roadmaster for Union Pacific Railroad and Mo-Pac Railroad. He was born May 22, 1922, at Taneyville, MO, a son of the late Bernard F. and Mable G. Bonebrake Bird. He and the former Janie Patterson were married Aug 4, 1979, at Mt. Home.
Mr. Bird was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army. He enjoyed gardening and making fishing rods and reels.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Bird of the home; two daughters, Sandra Gilbert of Winslow, AZ and Keena Chastain of Aurora, MO; three stepsons, Chip Bailey and Dennis Bailey, both of Mt. Home and Jimmy Bailey of Jackson, TN; a stepdaughter, Jan Morgan of Mt. Home; a brother Bernard F. Bird, Jr. of Seaside, OR; two sisters, Ethel Weatherman of Mt. Home and Evelyn Rutledge of Eugene, OR; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife, Eva Lea Bird.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
